My initial impressions of the global business program was that this opportunity would be rewarding, once in the lifetime opportunity. I have never been out of the country before, so I was excited to experience other cultures, perspectives, and participate in activities to dive deeper into the history of each country that I would soon visit. I was intrigued by the fact that we would be able to visit foreign companies, and so far, my expectations have been blown away! Everyone has been extremely welcoming and willing to answer any questions that arise.
Although, this trip was initially overwhelming: I felt as if I would be prepared enough, and I was concerned with how I would be able to keep track of all the information, and balance rest with activities, etc. All these worries were ceased as the faculty members have maintained constant communication and the other students have been so welcoming!
Our first country visit was London, England. This is a country rich with culture, amazing architecture, and embodies historical sights. I was in awe of how this country swept me up and made me fall in love! We visited historical sites including the Big Ben, the London Bridge, Parliament, etc. We have attended companies, and my favorite one being Chealsea as I grew up playing soccer!(or should I say football…)
Differences that I have been able to observe between England and the U.S culture include driving on different sides of the road, accessibility of public transportation, tipping culture, and they are constantly outside more than we are in the States. I am excited to attend other countries and observe other significant differences as well.
Throughout this experience I hope to continue to immerse myself in the rich cultures and continue to expand my global mindset along the way. I can’t believe the first week is coming to an end, but I am excited for everything else to come our way.
