As I settle into life in Madrid, I’ve begun to realize how much this experience is shaping me beyond academics. Being immersed in a new culture, surrounded by people from all over the world, has challenged me to think differently, communicate more thoughtfully, and embrace unfamiliar situations with curiosity instead of hesitation. I’ve learned to be more present, more adaptable, and more confident in my ability to navigate life independently. This journey is already proving to be one of the most enriching chapters of my college experience, and I’m excited to see how it continues to influence my perspective and personal growth.
Academically, UC3M has introduced me to a new style of learning that emphasizes independence and global collaboration. My marketing and technology courses are rigorous, but they’ve pushed me to take more initiative in managing my studies. Being surrounded by international students has added a rich layer to my education; every group project or class discussion becomes a cross-cultural exchange. Adjusting to Madrid’s later daily rhythm was a challenge at first, but I’ve come to appreciate the flexibility it offers. It’s refreshing to see how people prioritize social time and leisure without sacrificing productivity.
Personally, this experience has already begun to shape me in meaningful ways. I’ve become more confident navigating unfamiliar situations, more open to new perspectives, and more intentional about how I spend my time. Madrid has a way of encouraging curiosity—whether it’s through spontaneous conversations with locals or late-night tapas with new friends. I’m excited for the months ahead and grateful for the opportunity to grow both academically and personally in such a dynamic environment.
