It’s been about a week from our initial departure date and my experience abroad thus far has been amazing. We started our study abroad in London, England. Here we visited a couple companies and explored the city a ton. Some of the companies that we visited include Design Bridge and Partners, Chelsea FC, and Lloyd’s of London. We also took numerous bike rides around the city and hat the opportunity to see Mama Mia live in theaters. Some of the main differences I’ve noticed between England and the USA include the lack of air conditioning. They also don’t serve ice with water in England, and they frequently have fires. On the plus side, the are so many parks in England, which is something we don’t have much of in the USA. They also monitor what goes into their food much more closely, making our meals there much healthier. After London we traveled to Paris where we are currently. There are some major differences I’ve already noticed. Besides the language barrier, they are heavily monitor what goes into their food. The French architecture is also very unique and different from America. There are some significant things I hope to gain from this trip. I think it would be really cool if I was able to pick up on some of the manage languages here in Europe. I also think that it’s incredibly important to learn how international business works if I plan to work for a global company. The way that the stock markets are structured in Europe is very different due to different accounting laws. I think it would be useful to learn how these rules differ from those in the USA so I can be better prepared to handle working in a global environment. Overall I’m extremely excited to be abroad and I can’t wait to visit some of the other counties on our trip.
