I am currently on the 2025 Europe Marketing Study Abroad trip. On this trip we travel all across Europe to England, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Monaco, and Switzerland. For the first six days of our study abroad trip, we were in London, England. We got to see many famous landmarks including Ben Big, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and Westminster Abbey. Our various bike and walking tours helped us explore these monumental pieces of history and how they have contributed to England’s history. I was very impressed by the buildings that have stood the test of time in this country. There are several buildings and monuments, like the Tower of London, that have remained in the same spot for multiple centuries. You can look at ancient buildings in downtown London and then turn around to see a modern glass skyscraper. The city is filled with rich history and unique aspects to their culture. For example, people in England drive on the left side of the road, eat fish and chips, and are very passionate towards their monarchy. Also, even though British is very similar to English, they use different terms for certain words in Great Britain. Trash is called rubbish, the bathroom is the washroom, soccer is football, and fries are chips.
Ultimately, I have loved England, and I cannot wait to experience the cultures of six other countries in Europe. I think this experience will give me a good perspective on how people do business in other parts of the world. Also, talking to people involved in different aspects of business in foreign countries will help me understand the role that America plays in influencing the markets around the world. Different forms of business are done all around the world with different perspectives and tactics to achieve the same goals.
