Four months in Strasbourg is just enough time to scratch the surface of its rich culture—and perhaps even richer cuisine. I already find myself dreaming of the regional specialties that were once so easy to obtain.Living in Strasbourg has taught me the beauty of subtlety—how meaning can be found in quiet moments, shared meals, and everyday routines. I’ve learned to appreciate the slower pace of life, where lingering over coffee or strolling through cobblestone streets isn’t just common, it’s cherished. This rhythm has helped me become more present, more observant, and more attuned to the world around me. It’s a lesson I’ll carry with me long after I leave.
My first impression of the city was that it felt larger and busier than I expected. I wondered if people would be more closed off and difficult to connect with in this environment. But after a while, Strasbourg began to feel like a small village. I could easily navigate the city without maps and recognized nearly every face that walked by. Another early impression was that French people were generally more reserved and difficult to befriend as an outsider. I soon found that this wasn’t entirely the case. Perhaps the best way to get past the façade was to show genuine interest in their culture, language—or even better, their favorite cuisine.
Academically, EM Strasbourg offered more than just lectures and coursework—it provided a space for cross-cultural exchange and personal growth. Working alongside students from different countries challenged me to think more globally and communicate more thoughtfully. I’ve gained not only knowledge in business but also a deeper understanding of how culture shapes collaboration, leadership, and innovation. The diversity of thought and experience in the classroom made every discussion richer and more meaningful.
Most of all, this experience has reminded me of the importance of stepping outside my comfort zone. From navigating a new language to adapting to unfamiliar customs, I’ve grown in confidence and resilience. Strasbourg welcomed me with open arms, and in return, I opened myself to everything it had to offer. I leave with a heart full of gratitude, countless memories, and a new lens through which I see the world.A city I couldn’t have located on a map just a few months ago quickly became somewhere I will always consider a second home.
Thanks for everything, Strasbourg!
