The visit to Velover Coffee was very enjoyable. It was interesting to see their thought process and how their business had changed over the years. Initially, when they started, they did not have a wide customer base due to a lack of knowledge about their process and their product. After teaching the locals more about what American coffee, for example, lattes, cappuccinos, and espresso, looked like, their business started to boom because they were offering a product that had not previously been placed into the market. Due to this, their customer pool has grown, and people now desire their unique products. This unique labor structure, coupled with the opportunity to mentor volunteers who provide labor free of charge due to the nature of the instruction they are being given, has resulted in a profitable model for this coffee shop. It was a treat to speak with the owners and see their heart for business and for ministry!
