My first few weeks in France have been full of meeting new friends and diving into student life at EM Strasbourg! Fueling up before class involves a double espresso (or three) and, of course, Pain au Chocolat. Students at the business school are extremely welcoming and love showing newcomers around their city. While academics are prioritized, university in Strasbourg involves many coffee breaks and plenty of time to recharge and pursue extracurricular activities. When visiting Strasbourg, there is no better introduction to the city than taking a walk through Petite France to experience the beautiful architecture, views of the river, and the local cuisine. Weekends are the perfect time to catch a Strasbourg RC football match with friends. Don’t worry – anyone in the stands is more than happy to teach you one of the various chants they use to cheer on the team. My exchange semester in Strasbourg is off to a wonderful start, and I can’t wait to see what the next few months have in store!
Living in Strasbourg has already taught me so much about the value of slowing down and savoring everyday moments. The culture here encourages connection—whether it’s through long meals, spontaneous meetups at cafés, or simply walking through the city with friends. I’ve found myself more present, more curious, and more open to the unexpected. It’s a refreshing shift from the fast-paced rhythm I’m used to, and it’s helped me appreciate the richness that comes from embracing a slower, more intentional way of life.
Academically, I’ve been challenged to think more globally. Classes often include students from all over Europe and beyond, and the discussions reflect a wide range of perspectives. It’s fascinating to hear how different countries approach business, ethics, and innovation. This diversity has expanded my understanding of international collaboration and made me more aware of the cultural nuances that shape decision-making. Studying in Strasbourg isn’t just about learning from textbooks—it’s about learning from the people around me, and that’s been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
