My first impression of Singapore started as early as going through immigration at the airport. They had plenty of kiosks for everyone to go through at the same time, with no waiting, and it was all digital! It was the first country I had ever seen without immigration officers, and the process was beyond easy. The country itself led up to that first impression. The country is beautifully clean everywhere you go, and even public transportation is pristine. I think this is because of Singapore’s laws that truly set them apart from nearly anywhere else in the world. You are not allowed to eat or drink on public transportation, and most public areas also hold this rule. Although this is not the most convenient, it really does make a noticeable difference in keeping the country clean. Additionally, littering is a crime with serious punishment there. One main difference I noticed was the difference in the people, or culture in Singapore. Singaporeans seem to mainly keep to themselves and walk with their heads down to avoid interaction with others. They are not rude people, they are just more quiet than Americans. I believe this could be because of the more strict laws, and staying in your lane is the easiest way to avoid any trouble. Overall, I am loving Singapore and how different everything is here!
