My first impressions of Doha, Qatar, and the global business program have been really positive. The program is such an exciting opportunity to learn about how business works on an international level, and it’s amazing to see it all firsthand in a city like Doha. The city itself is super clean, modern, and well-organized, and I’ve noticed that people here are incredibly respectful and polite. It’s a very different atmosphere compared to what I’m used to back home in the U.S., and I’ve already started to see how much I can learn from this experience.
One thing that really stood out to me is how the foreign worker system works here. From the outside, it seems kind of unfair, but when you look closer, a lot of workers have better opportunities here than they did in their home countries. They’re able to earn money to support their families, and for many of them, it’s a step toward a better life. It’s made me think a lot about how complex the global labor system is and how important it is to look at these things from different perspectives.
Another thing that’s surprised me is the culture. I’ll be honest—I had some biases about what Muslim culture would be like, but being here has totally changed that. Everyone I’ve met has been so welcoming and kind, and there’s such a strong sense of respect in how people treat each other. It’s definitely made me realize how wrong stereotypes can be and how important it is to experience things for yourself.
Through this trip, I’m hoping to learn more about how businesses operate globally and how cultural differences shape the way people work and communicate. I also want to grow personally by stepping outside my comfort zone and seeing the world from a new perspective. So far, this has been an eye-opening experience, and I’m excited to see what else I’ll learn along the way.
