Before studying abroad, I had a limited perspective on what the world had to offer. While I had traveled to many countries before, it was always with my parents, which meant I never had to navigate new places entirely on my own. Spending a semester in Madrid and traveling to nine different countries gave me a newfound sense of independence and confidence. From figuring out transportation in unfamiliar cities to embracing different cultural norms, I learned how to adapt, problem solve, and appreciate the diversity of the world in a way I never had before. Each country I visited exposed me to unique traditions, languages, and ways of life, which broadened my understanding of people beyond just the surface level. Experiencing these cultures firsthand was incredible, but more importantly, I learned so much about myself, how I handle challenges, what excites me, and how much I value stepping outside of my comfort zone. This semester abroad wasn’t just about travel. It was about growth, self-discovery, and gaining a new perspective on what it means to truly explore the world.
