Howdy, my name is Aranza! My experience in Spain so far has been a great one. A few years ago, I got to spend two days in Barcelona on a cruise, but I felt that I didn’t get to see most of the city or enjoy everything it had to offer. My dad’s side of the family is also originally from Spain, so it has always been important for him to learn about our culture and where we come from. My perceived notions expectations of Barcelona were nothing but positive ones. From the beautiful architecture to the mesmerizing sites, Spain has so much to do and I am trying to make the most of each day while I am here. However, there are some negatives I had not realized before spending a week here. Firstly, the pickpocketing issue has me extra careful at all times about my belongings and where I put down my stuff. Another couple of minor issues I have is the lack of air conditioning and that water is not free at any of the restaurants I have been to so far. That being said, the positives greatly outweigh the negatives. Over the weekend I traveled to Blanes, explored more of Gothic Square, and am going to watch the Spain vs. England game tonight. The Aggie community we have built in Barcelona so far has been amazing. I feel that I have gotten closer with people and made new friends that I can explore anything with. I can’t wait to keep traveling and seeing more of this country!
