I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to experience Barcelona this past week! I came into this trip really excited and expectant of the beauty of the city and it has not disappointed. One observation I have made about Spain is the schedule here. Everything occurs at a later time in the day, which has taken some getting used to, but I honestly love it. The meals are a lot slower paced and nothing is rushed. Like when we ate our group dinner and we were there for three hours. The other night, I also ate dinner at eleven o’ clock, which is very different from my typical six o’ clock dinner. There is also so much to do here and so much architecture to see. I have decided everything is cooler and prettier here. I can get ice cream back home, but can I get gelato after coming back on the metro from the beach? No. I can’t. Over the weekend, I got to travel to Costa Brava and swim at the beach. That was beautiful. It was also cool because I took the bus there, so it’s been a great experience figuring out the transportation systems here. On Sunday morning, I also got to go to the International Church of Barcelona, which was awesome! It was mostly in English, but they sang a song in Spanish and had the words on the screen, so I sang it in Spanish, too. It was really neat to experience how the love of God is all across the nations and connect with this city in that way. I have also enjoyed connecting this trip, not only to home back in America, but also to my experience in Africa the month before I came here. I have also loved getting to know everyone on the trip and meeting people who are also aggies that I otherwise might not have known outside of this. I am so grateful for the new perspectives I am constantly learning this summer and cannot wait for the rest of the month.
