During my third weekend in my study abroad in Italy, I decided to go with a group of friends to Cinque Terre. We booked an Airbnb in advance and took a train to make it there. Cinque Terre turned out to be a beautiful town that was quite literally built into the side of the nearby mountains that overlook the sea. Walking anywhere in the town required either climbing up or down stairs. The first day we stayed there we ventured out to some of the rocks near the beach but the tide was strong so we held back. The next day we ventured to one of the private beaches and we found the spot perfect. The waves were a clear blue and the rocks were shining. We ventured out from the beach to a tall rock cliff that featured a 40-45 foot drop into the ocean. To get up the cliff we had to scale the mountain of rocks and a fall from almost any height would have been quite painful. After making it to the top, we looked out over the cliff and saw it was higher than it looked from below. Regardless, we jumped and had the time of our lives going over and over. Some local Italian teenagers were egging us on to keep going which was pretty funny to see. We made our way back to the beach and back to our place in a day of victory. The last day was mostly a recovery day and we had to leave around noon. Some rocks ventured out from the small harbor that was right by the town, and we headed out one last time. The tide had been too strong the first day we got there, so we were able to make it to the end of the rocks.
