Yesterday I was able to take a trip to Milan. The train ride was a little bit longer than 2 hours by train but we got off on to probably the most beautiful train station or any transportation hub that I have ever seen, it really felt like more of a museum than it did a train station. We left the building and were astonished by how developed the city felt as we had not been to a city in Italy that felt nearly as Urbanized as Milan apart from Rome. I also learned that there are numerous American companies that have branches in Milan as we passed a branch of KPMG, IBM and more on our walk around the city. The city felt huge and we ended up with around 25,000 steps taken on this trip. We started by walking to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II arcade which was astonishing. It was one of the most beautiful shopping centers I have ever seen, and while I didn’t go into any stores, the luxury goods inside were very fun to admire. Next, we went to the Aperol Terazza, a restaurant by the company that makes Aperol where we enjoyed drinks, aperitivo’s, and the most stunning view of the Duomo of Milan which we checked out later in the day. After this, we went to visit the Sforza Castle and the Porta Sempione and headed back to the train station. While it was a little more touristy of an experience, I was able to observe some American influence in the observation of this town as well as try some new foods!
