Going on the Europe, marketing study abroad trip has changed my perspective tremendously on cultures around the world. Before I went on this trip, I had never been to another continent before. In my head I thought that every country we were going to was going to be very similar. I was very wrong. Every country had its own language, and traditions, and culture. I was a little bit scared to try something so different, but the faculty made sure that I fully was prepared for the trip. We learned so much about European business culture, and how it differs so much from the business culture in the United States. In Europe, they only work on average three days a week in the middle of the week. In contrast, in the United States, people typically work Monday through Friday five days a week. The people that we met while doing our interviews for the class were very interesting and taught us a lot about the culture in the country that we were in. Majority of the people that we met were very kind and welcoming, and loved to speak with us. I remember at the beginning of this trip being I was so exhausted because we were getting up so early and spending the entire day going to museums, going to business meetings, and simply exploring, the towns and the culture. Dr. Mac made sure that we were getting all that we could out of every place that we visited, and I appreciate him for that. I don’t think I will ever be able to travel through nine different countries and see as much as I saw on this trip ever again in my life. I would encourage anybody who is thinking about trying to do a Study Abroad to do one, because you’ll never be able to experience something like this again.
