We decided to go to Pompeii for the day. We had to get up super early to make our 6am train ride. Some of the train rides get really busy, and people were being a little rude trying to get to their seat. It makes it even more stressful when there is a language barrier and you aren’t able to communicate with them. Going through all those experiences taught me to be flexible and be patient when trying to deal with busy and stressful events. When we got to Pompeii we hiked Mt Vesuvius. I was not expecting the hike to be as much as it was, but the view at the top was definitely worth all of the hard work. The view of the city just extended forever.
Going to the city of Pompeii and seeing all of the houses, amphitheaters, and the theater was really interesting. It was cool to be able to see how extravagant all the art on the house walls were, and how the amphitheater was designed basically like the ones we have today. When the volcano erupted, it killed and destroyed a lot of things. A few of the bodies were preserved in casts. We got to see the exact positions they died in due to the preservation. It is definitely a sad event that occurred, but it was interesting to see what life was like back then.
