This Spring break 2024 I had the most awesome opportunity to study abroad to Panama!! This study abroad trip was special to me because I was worried that I would not have an opportunity to study abroad in another country at my university for a few reasons. I was mainly worried about the costs, time spent, level of difficulty, and credit satisfaction. This program was the perfect fit and made all my worries go away.
Here are a few reasons why students at Texas A&M University should consider this trip to Panama
- One of the most affordable trips in the Mays study abroad programs
- Easy access to funding
- Satisfies 3 hours of course work
- You only meet once a week for class leading up to the trip to learn more about the country and prepare better
- Smaller group compared to others, and the advantages are we are all close
- All ranges in university levels
- Teamwork and bonding time
- Safe and well organized
These are just to name a few perks. An additional perk that is personal to me is the ability to see my extended family in Panama!! This was done during my free time of course, but it was amazing to have the opportunity to catch up with them after not seeing them since I was little. Additionally, you are working in groups to help rural communities with basic needs in their small businesses. For example, our client’s name was Noriel, he sells Wooden chairs on the facebook marketplace. We helped his business by giving him some ideas that included open-mindedness in being a carpenter and expanding his array of wooden inventory items. Along with other concepts of special offers, and maintaining client relationships to boost demand in his business. For his deliverables, we gave him a monthly accounting sheet, client relationship log, and order history log.
Overall, I recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for an affordable, fun, and wants to impact small business owners!
